Anja Westermann has been a project manager at the CHE’s Hochschulforum Digitalisierung (Higher Education Forum on Digitalisation) since 2025. In this role, she focuses on developing rapid-response measures and on the topic of digital resilience. She also supports the work on artificial intelligence in higher education teaching and learning.

Before joining CHE, she worked as a research associate at Paderborn University. There, she was involved in both research and teaching as well as in the university-wide project “AI and Open Source LLM”. In addition, she volunteers as a board member of foodsharing e.V.

Anja Westermann completed her First State Examination (Erstes Staatsexamen) in Philosophy and History at Paderborn University. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Contemporary History. In her dissertation, she explores international history and the history of the United Nations, with a particular focus on water resources and governance.
