Verena Heinzel supports CHE in the areas of events, professional development and leadership training. Her main responsibilities include delivering event formats on CHE topics, organising professional development programmes and trainings for leaders in the higher education sector, and fostering networking and peer exchange on good practice.

Before joining CHE in 2023, Verena Heinzel worked for ten years at the Robert Bosch Stiftung, most recently as Team Lead for Policy and Partnerships, where she was responsible for programmes for members of the German Bundestag, policy liaison work and partnerships with think tanks. Prior to that, she worked in project funding in conflict regions and on the topics of “truth, justice and remembrance”. She began her career as a research assistant in the German Bundestag, focusing on German foreign policy.

Verena Heinzel studied North American Studies and General and Comparative Literature at Freie Universität Berlin and spent a year abroad at Emory University in Atlanta, USA. She also completed further training as a “New Work Professional” with Les Enfants Terribles and is currently training to become a systemic-integrative coach.
